The Redmi 17 is a large-screen Android phone whose main selling point is its ability to last without needing a power outlet. With a 7500 mAh battery and a 6.9-inch screen , Xiaomi made clear decisions: prioritizing battery life and screen size over other specifications. The result is a phone that covers everyday use without battery worries, but it does have limitations in screen and performance that are worth knowing before buying.

A battery that lasts and charges without long waits
With a 7500 mAh battery, it's difficult to run out of charge before the end of the day, even with active use of social media, video, and browsing. Those who use their phone moderately can get up to two days without needing to charge it. When the battery runs out, 45W charging recovers a good portion of the autonomy in a short time, avoiding being tethered to a cable for hours. It's important to note, however, that the charger is not included in the box: if you don't have a 45W compatible charger at home, you'll have to buy one separately to take advantage of that speed. The downside of this large battery is straightforward: the 232g weight is a direct consequence of this capacity, and it becomes noticeable when holding the phone with one hand for an extended period.

Large and fluid screen, with nuances worth discovering
The 6.9-inch 120Hz display makes browsing social media and watching videos fluid and comfortable. Gorilla Glass 7i protects the glass against scratches and everyday impacts. However, there are two details that few product specifications mention and that alter the true assessment of this screen. First: the resolution is HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels), which on a screen of this size results in a density of about 254 pixels per inch. Text and photos are less sharp than on Full HD rivals at the same price, something more noticeable when reading than when watching videos. Second: the technology is IPS LCD, not AMOLED. Blacks and contrast don't reach the depth of other similarly priced phones that already use AMOLED. These aren't absolute flaws, but they are real compromises that Xiaomi made to reach the price point.

50 MP camera and what the processor can offer
The 50 MP rear camera captures enough light for daytime photos with a good level of detail. The 8 MP front camera handles everyday video calls and selfies without any further pretensions. Video recording reaches FullHD 1080p at 30 fps, sufficient for capturing everyday moments. The MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra processor with 4 GB of RAM performs well in typical use: messaging, social media, streaming video, photos. The limitation begins to be felt when many applications are open simultaneously: Android 16 manages more background memory than previous versions, and with 4 GB, transitions between apps can become somewhat slower over time. It's not a phone for demanding games or video editing.
